The national organization of Alpha Tau Omega organization has closed the Indiana University chapter and revoked its charter, citing the release of a sexually explicit cell phone video. A news release from the organization states that a year-old man seen in a video performing a sex act on a woman in front of other fraternity members was an initiated member of the fraternity, not a pledge. No pledges participated in the incident, according to the statement. However, it involved about half of the fraternity's membership. Group ordered to disband, effective immediately. Alpha Tau Omega's national office acknowledged Thursday morning that a "highly offensive" video has triggered an investigation of the local chapter.

I was beginning to think it wasn't possible for Indiana University to make Greek Life look any worse than it already does, but last night's events proved me wrong. Congratulations, Alpha Tau Omega, you guys really took the cake on this one. If you don't know what I'm referring to, let me enlighten you. On Wednesday night, an explicit video was posted on Reddit, an Internet forum, of an ATO member performing oral sex on a woman while pledges and members cheered and looked on. They were all naked, by the way, A user on Reddit shared the clip on Wednesday night, in a thread called " Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Indiana University forces its members to perform oral sex on strippers in hazing ritual," with a link to the extremely graphic video footage. Needles to say, the video went viral, and not just across the Bloomington campus, but nation wide.
